Using recreational drugs, like cocaine or alcohol, is illegal or comes with strict age restrictions. However, many people take these drugs, and drugs like them, even if they lead to negative impacts on their relationships, their finances, and their health. This talk will explore what happens in someone’s brain when they take recreational drugs, and why from a biological perspective, using these drugs feels so rewarding… But, it is exactly this feeling which can lead to extremely damaging outcomes for some people.
Content Warning: Throughout this talk, reference will be made to recreational drugs, and this may include some imagery of drugs and their paraphernalia, and some brief considerations of addiction.
